Aloha AMB friends! Today we have a guest blogger – Jake Smook, popularly known as @DJSmook on Twitter.  I requested Jake to share with us about some of his favorite beaches on Maui, and here’s what he says:

When I first moved the Maui back in 1995, I was totally blown away by the outstanding beauty of Maui’s vast choices of beach parks and resort beaches on final approach.  The fact of the matter is, Maui has some of the world’s cleanest and most beautiful beaches around to date.  I don’t really have just one favorite beach I truly dislike on the island.  In fact I enjoy heading to most of them when time permits.  In the list below are my favorite beaches to hang out at and are kid friendly.

Central Maui has a wonderful beach park and check this, you can even barbecue and grill your lunch there.  It’s known as Kanaha Beach Park minutes away from the Kahului Airport.  Kid friendly and very secluded from the craziness of Central Maui.  Life Guards are on post should any emergency rise.  While at Kanaha, you can catch some surf, watch La’e Ula O Kai canoe club practices, go snorkeling, scuba diving, or just lay out in the sun to tan up.  There are cold fresh water showers and restrooms there.  During the fall and winter seasons use caution and always feel free to talk to the life guards on post about conditions.  During the fall and winter the waves can be pretty big and pose life safety hazards.  Over all this is a good beach to go to if you live in Central Maui.

Paia and Sprecklesville have some awesome beaches on the island.  The first beach is known at Henry Perrine Baldwin Beach Park a.k.a. Baby Beach.  Like Kanaha this beach is kid friendly.  The water is like a pool cause you got a part of the reef blocking the major waves from coming in making this the perfect beach to bring the little kids.  Just be careful during the winter and fall times for the surf will be big at times. Word of caution when going to this beach however, there are no life guards on duty at this beach.

I love going to these beaches and have tons of fun.  My next post will be for my favorite beaches in South and West Maui.  If you have any questions or tips, feel free to leave feed back on the comments section.  Aloha!
