It’s been 2 weeks since I submitted my resignation at Hawaii Life. There are moments when I still can’t believe I did it. It is scary and exciting at the same time.

So I’ve quit my full-time job. Now what?

The scary part is we really don’t have any savings to cover the loss of my income.

I know …. it seems so irresponsible of me to resign without a “security blanket”.  It also seems so reckless to resign from a job without another job lined up.

But the truth is I didn’t want another full-time job. I resigned because I wanted to start my own business, to have more freedom and flexibility in my life.

A more responsible person would have planned his/her resignation better.  He/She would have started the business on the side and officially launched it. He/She would only have resigned when the business was generating the same income as his/her job. Obviously, I was not that “responsible person.

Did I do this on a whim? No. Far from it! It took a lot of prayers, weighing the pros and cons, consulting with trusted friends, and then praying some more.

I had a clear answer. I had the permission and the peace to move forward. And now, the adventure begins.
