There are many events happening this Friday, and I would like to highlight one of them. The Stomp Out Hunger 4 is this Friday and you are invited to come. Below is a guest post by Thomas Somermeier, Event Coordinator for Stomp Out Hunger Maui.
Attention Friends of Maui: You are all invited to the 4th annual “Stomp Out Hunger” celebration for the benefit for Feed My Sheep. This Friday, November 18, 2011, from 5:00pm to 10:00 pm. The location of this year’s celebration will be held at the War Memorial Gym in Wailuku.
It is guaranteed to be an evening of fun for the whole family and the celebration will start at 5:00pm and end at 10:00pm. Tap your foot to the beat of synchronized Taiko drumming by Zenshin Daiko, get the entire family dancing to Zumba dancing by La’Tinas Dance Studio, and sit back and enjoy the performances by Maui Academy of Performing Arts, Mana Toa, and Vessel of Mercy.
There will be food provided by the UH Maui Culinary Academy, jumping castle, a Kids zone, an awesome silent auction and the whole evening celebration emceed by Tantra of Q103 Radio . All proceeds go to Feed My Sheep to help support the weekly mobile distribution of food.
Today, Feed My Sheep distributes more than 140,000 meals monthly in five different locations and serves over 9,000 people in the Maui community. Feed My Sheep does all of this on less than $250,000 a year. Because of community support and the hard work of the Feed My Sheep staff and volunteers, this organization has become the most efficient non-profit meeting the need of hunger on the island. We hope to see you this Friday on the Stomp Out Hunger 4!
This seems like a really fun way to connect and support our community at the same time. I marked my calendar.
