Aloha, dear readers! Itʻs been a while! I missed you.  Lots of happenings, personal and also Maui in general.  As you already know, itʻs been a year seen that devastating Lahaina Fire.  I mused about in this video. I am back to blog regularly (I know … you heard that before 🙂 )

Today I want to share with you a wonderful experience we had visiting and exploring Lahaina Gateway Center.  It is more important than ever to support our local businesses in all of Maui, but especially in Lahaina.

Lahaina Gateway Center offers a perfect opportunity to do just that. This shopping and dining hub has become a vibrant spot for both locals and visitors, embodying the resilience and community spirit that define Lahaina in 2024.

Shopping at Lahaina Gateway Center

Lahaina Gateway Center is home to a variety of shops that cater to all your needs, from unique souvenirs to everyday essentials. The center has become a gathering place where you can find local artisans showcasing their crafts, which makes it an excellent spot to pick up one-of-a-kind gifts and support Maui’s creative community.

One of our favorite stops was the Khloellas Garden. Khloella’s Garden is a unique new store in Lahaina selling outdoor furnishings, home decor, pet accessories, gifts and… more. I also enjoyed shopping for clothes for Mahina. I sure am going back there with my daughter. (For this visit I was with my son).

For those needing to do some grocery shopping, Foodland Farms provides a convenient and delightful shopping experience with a local twist. From fresh produce to unique Hawaiian treats, it’s a great place to stock up on picnic supplies for your island adventures. Their selection of locally sourced products ensures that you are supporting Maui’s farmers and producers with every purchase. AND they are also known for their Fresh Poke.We went there for Poke = there was a long line but it went fast. Oh delicious poke bowl hit the spot!

Dining at Lahaina Gateway Center

When it comes to dining, Lahaina Gateway Center does not disappoint. The variety of eateries here ensures that there is something for everyone.

During our visit, we enjoyed a delicious meal the Kihei Caffe in Lahaina.  I live in Kihei and their restaurant there usually have a long line (itʻs a smaller place) – this new place of theirs is more spacious. We were able to order right away and got seated in a comfortable place. My son ordered the Spare Ribs Loco Moco special and I ordered the Fried Rice with Eggs. Oh so delicious!

For a sweet treat, we couldn’t resist stopping by Island Cream Co. Their innovative flavors and creamy textures make it a must-visit for anyone with a sweet tooth. The shop is known for using fresh, local ingredients, which makes every scoop a little taste of paradise.  And to add to the sweet delights, we also had Boba Tea at Maui Bubble Tea.

You can also find Teddy’s Bigger Burgers at the Lahaina Gateway Center, where the classic Hawaiian flavors meet gourmet burgers. It’s a fantastic spot for families and friends to gather, offering a laid-back atmosphere and mouth-watering food. We were still full from our previous meal but we decided to order a “to go” burger to share with my hubby at home.

Supporting Local Businesses

Supporting local businesses is crucial for the recovery and growth of our community. By choosing to shop and dine at Lahaina Gateway Center, you’re directly contributing to the livelihoods of local families and helping to sustain the vibrant culture of Lahaina.

The center itself has adapted wonderfully to the challenges of the past year, implementing measures to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all visitors. Outdoor seating areas, enhanced sanitation protocols, and community events are just a few ways Lahaina Gateway Center is creating a welcoming environment.

A Hub of Resilience

Lahaina Gateway Center stands as a symbol of resilience and renewal. Despite the challenges faced by our beloved town, the center continues to thrive and provide a space for the community to come together. It’s a place where the spirit of aloha is palpable, and every visit feels like a celebration of what makes Lahaina special.

Whether you’re a longtime resident or a first-time visitor, Lahaina Gateway Center offers a slice of Maui that is both familiar and refreshing. From unique shopping experiences to delectable dining options, it’s a must-visit destination that showcases the best of what our island has to offer.

Until next time, mahalo for joining me on this journey. I hope to see you at Lahaina Gateway Center soon!

Aloha,

Liza
