In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So Kalani thought that on Fridays she would take it easy on posting, too. On her blog she’ll ask a simple question for us to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response. Then if we would like to participate, we can do the same. I am participating this week and my question is: When are your kids going back to school? Alternate question (if you don’t have kids) is “what is your favorite school supplies?” Please feel free to elaborate your answer, but if you are a “man or woman with a few words, few words are fine too π

My daughter is not in school yet, she will start head start in October though!! π I cant wait for that!! My favorite school supply was the folders, notebooks and binders!! I LOVED color coding everything for each class and making sure everything was just right! I remember packing my back pack and un-packing it hundreds of times before school actually started!!!
No kids for us.
I remember my Trapper Keeper, which seems pretty flaky looking back at it now.
When I was in grade school, I guess I had a thing for graph paper because I was also drawing with it and making shapes and stuff when I should have been paying attention.
Then, come 8th grade, we started using those graphing calculators, which were neat. Of course, that was when I was just getting starting with my techie ways, so it was long before I was programming games and stuff on it, too.
Ah, memories. π
My kids go back on the 26th of August.
My oldest started a couple of weeks ago and my youngest will start on Monday. YEAH! π
My kids go back at the end of August. I actually really enjoy school shopping. It can be a fun bonding experience to go with the kids and choose all of their classroom and clothing supplies. I just hate that with 4 kids in school that it can be quite expensive.
We homeschool year round so we take only short breaks, two weeks max through out the year. There is no “back to school” date.
Thankfully my wife does all the school shopping. I used to love getting new school supplies as a kid though.
I think my kiddo starts kindy the first week of September… The info packet gets mailed out on Monday so I’ll find out soon!!
I love pens – I own way too many! π
I have no kids. But I like all kindso of pens and pencils.
I also love pens and different kinds of spiral notebooks.
When my sons were young I used to enjoy shopping for school supplies.
Crayons, of course. The big box with the crayon sharpener. It just made me feel special if I had the big box! Funny memories! Thanks Liza.

why does everyone else start earlier or at least it seems that way we don’t start til August 17 and a school where I am from does not start til after labor day
We go back after Labor Day here. It seems late, but you have to remember that our schools went until the last week of June.
School starts here the day after Labor Day!

The public schools here start on August 13, but we homeschool. I am planning to start our girls on August 10.
