For the past couple of years, I have been choosing “one word” at the beginning of the year. That one word has been my guide, goal, and inspiration for that year.
In 2017 I chose LISTEN. I learned to listen well in a conversation – I listened to what other people are saying. I learned to listen to myself and get tuned to what I need and want; I learned to listen to that inner voice, that still small voice inside of me which usually are prompting of the Holy Spirit; I learned to listen to not only what people say, but listen to what they don’t say. 2017 was a great year of listening.
In 2018 I chose COURAGE. It is this year that I am “braving the wilderness”. It is this year that I am becoming brave is sharing who I am; Having “courage” as my one word enabled me to do things I would usually avoid doing. It’s been a great year so far, and I still have 4 months to go.
Your ONE WORD Keychain by SaltyKineDesigns
Interestingly, a few days ago I discovered a book called YOUR ONE WORD. It was published in 2016 and it’s only now that I heard about it. The book is written by Evan Carmichael, a famous Youtuber and a successful entrepreneur. If you would like to understand more about this “ONE WORD” fever that I am in, you can go to my personal blog and watch more summaries of this YOUR ONE WORD book.
So what does this one word have anything to do about MAUI and A MAUI BLOG?
You see, I spend a lot of time sharing about Maui through my blog and all the social media channels I manage. When I dug deeper into WHY … when I dug deeper into discovering what MY ONE WORD is for my life.
I am still in the process of discovering my ONE WORD for my life; However, it was confirmed that my one word for my career life is SHARE.
Now it all made sense to me why I do what I do and why am “successful” in my career in social media.
I love sharing stories with you, thus I started a blog.
I love sharing my blessings. I am so grateful that I live on Maui surrounded by beautiful ocean and magnificent sunsets – and guess what I usually do? I share photo of ocean and sunsets on my Facebook and Instagram. I share videos of taken by myself and taken by others too.
I love sharing my knowledge with you. I love giving tips. And this explains my I have this desire to write a book about Maui. I am not a “writer” but since I desire to SHARE my knowledge, I am becoming a writer. I am writing a book about Maui (I know.. it’s been a long time coming. I am still working on it 🙂 )
I am so glad that it came clear to me that the core value of what I do is this one word SHARE. Sharing Aloha.
Now as to ONE WORD for my life, I am divided between SHARE and SERVE. My love language is SERVE and I am big on serving others, but I am also big on SHARING. Is there a ONE word that would cover both SHARE and SERVE? If there is, that would be my life ONE WORD.
Now ENOUGH ABOUT ME …. HOW ABOUT YOU? Have you ever thought what is ONE WORD is? If so, please share them on the comment section of the blog or the comment section on Facebook where you found the link to this blog.
Maybe you are like me who has several WORDS at the moment. That is ok too. Share them as well. And you don’t know it yet, then maybe read the book or watch the videos here.
There are more to share about this but I’d stop here for now. I look forward to hearing from you!
My word is Wait. You see my husband of 15 yrs recently and unexpectedly passed away and there are now so many unanswered questions, issues, decisions to be made. But in all that is happening I feel I need to Wait…wait on the Lord to direct me In all areas … Wait and not to make rash decisions in my pain and grieving process (sometimes easier said than done)….Wait and see what my “new” normal will be,…wait and see if moving to Maui (where I have wanted to be for years) is where I should be. Wait.
My one word for 2018 is ACCOMPLISH! I have worked hard this 2018 year so far to achieve this goal of accomplishing my tasks in my businesses. It feels absolutely great to have successfully revamped and repurposed my materials to serve a different niche market, and to be able to actually teach the concepts and approaches I have created.
Thank you for the opportunity to share my experience and insights with your community.
